Mom is still fighting

UPDATE: Mom is going to have surgery Friday to remove her gallbladder - she has a drain in it right now - because she cannot be admitted anywhere with it in. She was moved out of CCU today as well. She still isn't responsive...my siblings and I are confused as to what exactly this all means for her and her quality of life...

They were supposed to move my mom into her own room today. She is a true DNR now. But, she seems to be rallying again. I just worry about her quality of life because we still don't know about the extent of the brain damage.

Paul and Rayna were able to visit with her before we went to Louisiana and I was really happy about it.

She is rarely responsive...however, my brother, Joey, called and I held the phone up to mom's ear and he spoke to her for about 30 seconds. Afterwards, she had to have her breathing treatment and then they moved her to her other side. While this was going on, I was standing out of the way and asked mom if she had heard Joey on the phone and she slowly responded with a "Yes"!

I was shocked but elated...it brought tears to my eyes.

That is unreal.... wow.....

it seems like surgery would be risky at this point... ?????

Yeah, yikes; I agree with Marci; unless they/you guys think that that's what's giving her the "ups and downs" with her blood pressure

You know my prayers are with you; but if you're not sure about the brain damage yet, tell (demand, if needed) them that you would like an explanation of what the extent of the damage is (or have your brothers and sisters do it)
