Veteran's Day at Black Water River

It really was depressing not to be able to go home this weekend...but, I did hang out with some other Military personnel who were without thier loved ones as well...So here's to us!

For so long I was angry because you couldn't take care of me
I didn't want to hear about your private demons or struggles
And I never ever wanted to have to leave

For so long I despised your sickness and how it affected me
I didn't want to hear about your disappointments or hardships

For so long I ignored you and was only concerned about me
I didn't want to hear about your desires or dreams
And I never ever wanted to have to leave

For so long I held my forgivness close to me
I didn't want to hear about your explanations or reasons
And I never ever wanted to have to leave

I will have to live with my selfishness now for so long
The reasons and pain I didn't want to hear
Will now echo in my life for years and years
And the only excuse I have I will forever sing like a song

That I never ever wanted to have to leave...
